cam & jamie’s wedding reception in the ruins ballroom, seattle, with a late-night afterparty aboard the orient express traincars.
constraint
the room already carried most of the visual language: murals, architectural detail, and a built-in sense of theater. the interiors were the point. the reception also had a sound-ordinance cutoff on how late the main room could run.
intervention
we kept the design to a minimal lighting package: architectural uplights on the mural walls, enough sound for dinner, speeches, and dancing, and no additional beam package. the murals and architectural detail stayed dominant. when the ordinance limit arrived, the plan shifted to a second environment: a compact system aboard the orient express traincars.
outcome
dinner became dancing in the ballroom. at the cutoff, the night boarded the orient express and kept moving.
